Which plan is right for me?
Community ($299/mo) is for weeklies, small dailies, and digital startups. We build, host, and run your site, with your paywall, digital print edition, newsletters, ad management, paid obituaries, and paid public notices.
Daily ($599/mo) adds AI story audio, an automated events calendar, hosting for higher traffic, priority support, and Slack support for one user.
Regional ($999/mo) adds enterprise hosting, your own iOS and Android apps, Slack support for three users, and a dedicated account manager.
Already have your own WordPress site? Our self-hosted plugin is $99/mo plus a 5% revenue share.
Is there a revenue share?
Not on Community, Daily, or Regional. You keep every subscription dollar.
The self-hosted plugin is the only option with a revenue share: 5% of the subscription revenue that comes in through PaywallProject.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Your first month covers building your site, which generally takes 30 days or less. Your plan starts at signup, and we get to work right away.
How long does it take to get up and running?
On Community, Daily, and Regional, generally 30 days or less, and that build time is included in your first month. With the self-hosted plugin, you can install it and start selling subscriptions the same day.
Do I need to purchase additional software licenses and hosting?
On Community, Daily, and Regional, no. All software and hosting is included and fully managed by our team.
With the self-hosted plugin, you run it on your own WordPress site, so you provide the hosting.
Can I add tools to my plan?
Yes. Add AI story audio or the events calendar to Community for $199/mo each, or your own iOS and Android apps starting at $299/mo. Tell us what you need and we’ll put it together.
We run more than one publication. Can you help?
Yes. Each site goes on the plan it needs, and we offer group pricing across your publications. Talk to our team.
What is included with website development?
We offer several custom PaywallProject WordPress themes designed for news publishers. Choose one of our templates at no extra cost, or bring your own. We apply your branding and get your site live.
What is proactive site monitoring?
We partner with BigScoots, an industry-leading managed WordPress host, to monitor your site every 60 seconds. If an issue is detected, at any time of day, our hosting partner works to resolve it right away. Regional adds enterprise hosting sized for your traffic.
Do I need to hire a developer alongside PaywallProject?
Not on Community, Daily, or Regional. We manage every part of your website and paywall. Need a highly custom feature? Our development team will provide a free estimate.
Can you migrate our existing site content?
Yes. Whatever your current CMS, we can move your site into WordPress. Contact us for an estimate.
